Who or what inspires you?
|
Who or what inspires me? I didn’t have to think for more than a half-second to come up with my answer.
That’s probably because I just finished the new book Son of Hamas, and it’s still very fresh on the mind. What inspires me is not the book itself, but the author, and in turn, his own Hero.
Mosab Hassan Yousef is the son of Hamas leader Hassan Yousef, and heir apparent to the Hamas throne. At least, he was… until he pronounced that he had converted from Islam to Christianity, and his family disowned him.
What a miracle, I thought when I first heard this. Not only that someone steeped so heavily in Islam could come to faith in Christ, but that he could escape with his life. Mosab is now living in California and is every bit a living example of God’s grace, power, and love.
But his story doesn’t stop there… In Son of Hamas, Mosab reveals shocking details of the Middle Eastern conflict in his captivating true story of “terror, betrayal, political intrigue, and unthinkable choices.” But that description doesn’t do it justice, by a long shot….
You see, Mosab has secretly been working as a spy for one of the Israeli security agencies, the Shin Bet, for ten years. His service there resulted in the preservation of countless Israeli and Palestinian lives.
He is a real-life James Bond, but so much cooler.
If this isn’t reason enough to check it out, the book cuts straight to the heart of the Palestinian/Israeli conflict with cunning logic and indisputable fact. From his position in the middle of the war, Mosab paints a vivid picture of the conflict and its true source. Son of Hamas is a must-read for anyone interested in Israel, the Middle Eastern conflict, or Biblical end-times prophesy.
I know what you’re thinking. She must be getting paid to advertise this book! Yeah, I’d think that too. But no one has to pay me to “advertise” the Bible or the U.S. Constitution either… I just truly believe that this is just one of those books that everyone should read.
Mosab’s story is a beacon of hope and inspiration for all kinds of people. If he can go through all that he did and still be praising the Lord, why should I be having trouble with my day to day squabbles? My perspective has been rightly oriented again, and I wake up every day thanking God for my countless blessings. Who knows? Maybe someone saved my life today, and I didn’t even know it.
